Assam university

The History of AU (Assam University) is the struggle of people’s for the standard or higher education. It is Public University and it was established in the year of 1994. Sri Gulzar was the chancellor of the University and Sri Prof. Somnath Dasgupta was the Vice chancellor of the University. The locality of AU is in Silchar, Assam, in India and it is an ‘urban campus’. The Affiliation to the Assam University are the Under Graduates Institutions or Colleges (UGC's). The location of an ‘Shahid Minar’ is near the front gate of an Assam University. The Assam University has 16 schools in which the each school offers various subjects that are given below.

In Assam University also there are 35 various departments under the above 16 schools and about 56 UG colleges across the 5 districts in Assam. This University is institutional signatory to GUNI that stands for Global University Network for the Innovation, in Barcelona and also UNGC it stands for United Nations of Global Compact.

The area of Main campus of Assam University is 600 acres and it was situated at Dagakona, near the Airongmara the distance is of 20 km form the city Silchar, and the 2nd campus of the University is at Diphu, in district of Karbi Anglong.
