About Kerala University (UOK):

The UOK (University of Kerala) is formerly known as “Travancore University”. It is one of the affiliating Universities and the locality of the Kerala University is in “Trivandrum” in south Indian of Kerala state, India. In the year of 1937 the University was started, It was happened very long before birth of Kerala state in the India. The first chancellor of University is Sir ‘Chithra Thirunal Balarama Varma’ and he is also the Maharajah of the Travancore. And the very first vice chancellor of the University is none other than the prime minister of Travancore and he is named as Sir C. P. Ramaswami Iyer.

Education System in Kerala University:

 The UOK came into the existence in the year of 1937 and at that time the University is called as ‘University of Travancore’ (UOK). Later in the year of 1957 the University of Travancore renamed as the ‘University of Kerala (UOK)’, according to Act of the University of Kerala.

In present, there are 41 Branches or Departments and 16 lecturers of research and the teaching are there in University. Several study centers and the other branches or departments are evolved in the University. These are implemented mainly focusing on various programs like the ‘M. Phil programs’, the ‘PG program’ and ‘the Doctorate or the Doctoral’ etc. In KU there are several study centers started in very specialized types like the studies of Kerala, the nano-technology, and the bioinformatics. The total number of colleges in the KU is above 250 and with the total number of students is above 84,000 across the various cities which are Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, the parts of pathanamthitta, and the Alappuzha. The grade of the university is B++ and it is given by the NAAC. Here NAAC stands for national assessment and the Accreditation Committee. The semesters of the university are scheduled in the months of Aug to Jan and from the Feb to July.
